(countdown)
I turned it on ... and you're there
You are pure radio hymnal
You are pure radio love
You are pure radio hymnal
You are pure radio love
I drove all night
Just to hear your voice
I died a little
When all I got was noise
You are pure radio hymnal
You are pure radio love
You are pure radio hymnal
You are pure radio love
LION EATER is Corresponding Handpieces' fifth full-length album, and is the band's most cohesive statement to date. Recorded in a very short burst and worked and reworked in the studio for months on end, LION EATER is a concise, 11-track collection that was chopped down from a full-blown 26 songs that were recorded and mastered. While the group's last album, 2011's CHIVES, was a largely acoustic affair, LION EATER is a whole different beast entirely: swirling keyboards, echoed guitars, pounding industrial drums, and the group's unique songwriting all converge together to make what is arguably their wildest album yet.
No stone is left unturned: from atmospheric instrumentals ("Perpetual Seizure") to psychedelic pop (the hazy single "Pure Radio Hymnal") to lo-fi dance numbers ("Idiot Blood") to indie-electronic hybrids ("Save the Leaves") to out-and-out anthems (closer "Sweet & Final"), LION EATER gathers up all of the band's strengths in one place. They remain unafraid to be quirky (as with their dramatic cover of Ke$ha's "We R Who We R", recorded in one take), and in doing so, plumb some of the deepest emotional depths imaginable (as evidenced by the heart-rendering tale "Susan's Lampshade").
Now, after nearly half a year of gestation, LION EATER greets you with open arms. Enjoy, dear listener.

Tasty, delicious, fantastic, and fun. They covered our song "Save the Leaves" [on the SWEET & FINAL single], and turned it into something magical. Same goes for them ... Corresponding Handpieces
For a guy with hardcore rock pumping through his blood, it's cool to see him open up his sound to organic, beautiful new styles, be they ambient or whimsical pop. A super-fun record. Corresponding Handpieces
We can't even describe the sounds that Ryan Reed and Jamie Wolfe make together, but it's a bit of a wild thing, avant-pop showcase that defies easy classification. Their discography is rather deep. Corresponding Handpieces
Portland shoegaze that plays, as the best representatives of the genre do, with huge, hollow atmosphere against intimate observations. Bandcamp New & Notable Nov 23, 2016
Gnarly punk rock from the Philadelphia duo is unhinged in the best way, an in-the-red sonic assault a la Motorhead/Stooges. Bandcamp New & Notable Mar 9, 2024
